Raindrops are not teardrops Part 15

this storyline begins here.

Well there you go. What a sad zombie.

So I’ve been doing a lot of research lately on webcomics, as a medium and as a means of making a living (yes, it can be done) because, well, I like doing this. Comics are fun, you know? Thing is, all of the books I’m reading say that you’ve got to encourage the building of a community among the folks who like what you do. That means you, the reader, are a part of this whole mess. So leave a comment. Or two! Don’t be shy! We got a couple of regulars so far (you guys know who you are, and by the way – thanks, you rock.) but the more the merrier. I know it can be intimidating leaving your thoughts on some random dude’s website. Heck, I rarely leave comments on the blogs of people I don’t know. But you know why? Because it always feels like some secret society that I’m not a part of, or just a group of buddies that I don’t know. Well, take it from me – you’re welcome here.

So say a little something about the comic if you like. Or, alternately – talk about zombies. Or maybe your favorite comics. Whatever. It’s all good. It’s just fun to be part of a dialogue out here in the wilds of the internet.

Was that a tumbleweed?

Yikes! I gotta get some more hits.

Later all,

J

    Leaving a comment? Scary…
Ho, well, if it makes you happy, I guess it’s fair, ’cause your webcomic makes ME happy.
About zombies, do you know that there is a serious article about the best way to deal with a zombie apocalypse? (Just google “mathematical model for surviving a zombie attack”)

  2. Phaeton

Actually it’s even easier to find it with google scholar:

    Sorry about the double comment.

  3. Gregory

Ah, right. Been can be flapped. Been can be flapped by Billy, and that’s about it. Aww…
Commenting’s only scary the first time, kids! Join in the fun.
Anyway, some favorite webcomics: This, Erfworld, Gunnerkrigg Court, Order of the Stick, XKCD, Perry Bible Fellowship, The Adventures of Dr. McNinja. And more, of course.

Can you make a tag of “Billy being sensitive”? I have a feeling it shan’t fill up fast! Poor zombie, doesn’t even have an eye socket on the right.

    Yea for comments!

Awww, sad zombie. I love how Billy hides behind Been’s wings.
Phaeton, thanks for the link, I found it hilarious that they mathematically outlined what could happen in a zombie attack! “It follows that, in a short outbreak, zombies will likely infect everyone…we still expect only two outcomes: either zombies are eradicated, or they take over completely….the most effective way to contain the rise of the undead is to hit hard and hit often….” I guess I will have to lock myself away with a cricket paddle (Shaun of the dead) and hope for a crazy hero with a machine gun leg to “hit hard” (Planet Terror)

@ Phaeton: I’ve heard about that paper before, but never read it. I might just have to sit down with it one of these nights when I’ve got the time. Nothing quite like science humor.

@Gregory: Been is flapped, but only because she’s never seen Billy being brave before. Have you ever read Hark! A Vagrant? That comic usually delivers the funny in spades.

Holy PISS the line work on panel 2 is amazing! Great job really drawing out that unsettling emotion…bet it was a bitch to ink!

Billy’s a big ol’ softie, we’ve seen it compensate for his lack of bravery twice now in this very arc!

I am a comment ninja. But this is a comic about zombies? Quel dommage!

Comments on webcomics are like cigarettes in prison. Nothing special on the outside but worth three times their weight in gold within the system.

  9. Gregory

Ah, Hark! A Vagrant. I forgot to list that one, along with Cat and Girl (Which is one of my favorites of all time, so how did I forget it?), Wondermark, Dresden Codak, Penny Arcade, and probably a bunch of others.

    Whats a zombie anyway?

  11. Nile

Panel 2 is awesome by the way

Fantastic comic! I hate catching up in the archives of webcomics because then I’ve got to wait for new ones. But looks like this one’s definitely worth the wait. Thanks for the link here, Gregory!
The Meek is a promising webcomic, but be warned: it’s only on the second chapter in what’s shaping up to be an intricate storyline.

  13. Sam

Fanfreakingtastic! I just checked your latest one out tonight! Zombie tears are a thing of awesomeness. Jason, you sir, would make my rotten face cry while looking into the bowling ball mirror of an imp. I love your work.

@ Taylor: Glad you like the cmic! Nothing makes me feel better than knowing I’m making something that even one person enjoys. Gregory seems to quickly be becoming this comic’s biggest evangelist. I’ve got to admit, the whole idea of having actual readers who like what I’m doing is pretty surreal. But awesome.

@Sam: Thanks, and I have to say I get a pretty big kick out your comic as well…when may we expect more?
