Hit and Miscalculation

Sometimes I wonder why I don’t just call this comic “Experiment: the Comic Strip”. Other than the fact that that’s a terrible title for a comic. And it doesn’t really say anything about the characters. What I’m getting at is that I changed up the way I work yet again.

This time I bumped up the size of the original artwork. Again. This has got to be like, the fifth time. Course’, it’s seems to have been a benefit each time. I definitely noticed that I work a lot looser at this size, and I tend to spend less time staring in agony at how the heck I’m going to ink some tiny little detail. Plus other things.

Keep your eyes on the blog — I’m going to be submitting to threadless soon, and this is the final design:

I like it. I’m hopeful that it’ll do well, but it was so fun to draw that I’m okay with it just existing. It does help if you guys score it up when it does go up on the site, so I’ll keep you posted here on the website, facebook, and twitter.

Later,

J.

Heard about a fire ant attack in Maryland, but that’s only mid atlantic. But much more north of me, evil Arizonan that I am. Ole! torosaurus! Ole!

Actually… this is still a really good plan. It isn’t established what kind of pheromones they have been sprayed with, just that it is fire ant pheromones. Now if this was the pheromone specifically used to signal an attack then there being no fire ants in that area would be a problem. If it is any kind of other pheromone they might want to run. You see, two ants from different colonies will work together instinctively if they are the same species but if the pheromones are strong enough to attract nearby ants of DIFFERENT species… Well they may not have stingers and venom but an ant biting you is still just that. And that’s assuming that no nearby wasps or bees get annoyed by the sudden introduction of ant pheromones in their area. Yeah, they still may be screwed. Kind of makes me laugh to think of them all swollen from various stings rubbing aloe on themselves and just one person looking at bug girl and sarcastically mimicking her.
